Hello. I'm Joy Torbett, founder and physical therapist of Move & Go Physio. I'm a board-certified orthopedic physical therapist who has been treating patients for > 20 years, with 15 of those years spent here in Central Oregon. I also work part-time as an associate faculty member for the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program at Oregon State University-Cascades, and I occasionally teach some Kinesiology courses there as well. When I'm not treating patients or teaching, I'm spending time with my two wonderful girls, improving my pickleball skills, or getting outside and enjoying the beauty of Central Oregon.
Originally from Northern California, Joy’s passion for movement began early through year-round sports like tennis, basketball, soccer, and softball. A significant turning point came in high school when she sustained an Achilles tendon tear at an all-star basketball camp. That injury introduced her to the world of physical therapy and ignited a lifelong passion for helping others recover and thrive. With the support of a dedicated physical therapist, Joy returned to competition, earned a spot on a USA Northern California all-star basketball team, and had the unforgettable experience of playing in New Zealand for a short stint.
Joy earned her Bachelor of Science in Biopsychology from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and went on to complete her Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree at the University of Southern California. She began her career in acute care and neuro rehabilitation at USC University Hospital, later advancing her education with specialized post-graduate training in Orthopedic Manual Therapy, Medical Screening, Imaging, and Orthopedic Differential Diagnosis. She became a Board-Certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) in 2004 and a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) in 2006.
Joy remains deeply committed to serving the Bend community with compassion, integrity, and expertise—and she is a well respected healthcare provider in Central Oregon. She provides comprehensive care for sports & orthopedic conditions using an approach rooted in movement science, expert manual therapy, patient education, and functional or sport-specific training. What Joy values most about the physical therapy profession is the meaningful human connection—listening to each person’s story and walking alongside them through recovery and growth. With experience spanning the full lifespan, from infants to centenarians and from professional athletes to weekend warriors, she continues to feel grateful for the opportunity to serve her community and do the work she loves.
